Your smartphone and / or tablet is just begging for an update. From time to time, these mobile devices are blessed with maintenance refreshes, bug fixes, custom ROMs and anything in between, and so many of them are floating around that it's easy for a sizable chunk to get lost in the mix. To make sure they don't escape without notice, we've gathered every possible update, hack, and other miscellaneous tomfoolery we could find during the last week and crammed them into one convenient roundup. Official Android updates

  • Samsung Galaxy Note II: T-Mobile has released its promised Multi-Window update via Samsung Kies and as an OTA download. [T-Mobile]

  • Samsung Galaxy S II: An update to Android 4.0.4 is now available for AT&T's variant of this smartphone. You can grab the latest software via the OTA function or within Samsung Kies. [Android Central]

  • Motorola Atrix HD LTE: Bell Mobility has released its upgrade to Jelly Bean as an over-the-air installation. [MobileSyrup]

  • LG Optimus G: Bell and Rogers have released an update for LG's premiere smartphone that brings improved touchscreen responsiveness while the device is charging and introduces tweaks to the email setup routine. Security fixes from Google are also on deck with this one. [MobileSyrup]

Unofficial Android updates, custom ROMs and misc. hackery

  • HTC One X: Custom ROMs based on Android 4.1.1 and Sense 4+ are now available for the AT&T / Rogers variant of this smartphone. The ROMs are by and large based on international releases for the One XL. Android Central brought our attention to one particular ROM that features a near-stock build, along with Superuser and the file manager from CyanogenMod 10. [Android Central]

  • CyanogenMod 10.1: A new wave of nightly builds of this custom ROM are now available for a number of handsets and tablets, which brings access to Android 4.2.1. Among the eligible devices, you'll find the Nexus S / 4G, Transformer Pad 300, Galaxy S III (Verizon, Sprint, MetroPCS and US Cellular), Captivate, Iconia Tab A700, Galaxy S II (AT&T), Galaxy Note and Galaxy Note II (international). Other platforms

  • HTC 8X: HTC announced this week that Rogers subscribers would be treated to an immediate deployment of a software update that brings SMS improvements, battery optimizations and WiFi fixes. The update will be made available to subscribers of Bell at a later date. [MobileSyrup]

  • BlackBerry PlayBook: RIM has released PlayBook OS 2.1.0.1314, which brings improvements to Adobe Air and Flash. [CrackBerry]
